Elk Tooth Money Clip

These money clips use the elk ivory of bulls. Every one is different to some degree, because each ivory is different. Most of the ivories are supplied by the hunters themselves, but often I have one or two ivories for those who don’t have access to the elk ivory. Elk are a large game animal, prized not only for their trophy aspect, but also as a meat animal. Their meat is similar in taste to beef, lean, yet tender.

Elk ivory is a legal ivory. An elk bull has two ivories. Cows do not have ivories, but instead they have what are called milk teeth. The reason cows do not have ivories is because they put all their calcium into the calves they birth. Milk teeth are not suitable for jewelry, except as earrings and pendants, where they won’t get much wear.

The money clip itself is made from nickel silver, with a sterling profile of the bull elk.
