“Raspberry Rhapsody”

Beautiful round conchas sit atop these heart-shaped raspberry rhodalite garnets, and fan conchas are suspended beneath the rhodalites. The top conchas have a single line diamond-cut around the circumference. The bottom conchas have three diamond-cut lines in a soft “V” pattern. The stones are set in prong settings. The stones are a lively raspberry color. Of all the red garnets, the raspberry color is the highest grade in color. It’s a beautiful clear red with no brown undertones. Each of the components, conchas and stones, swing freely, independent of each other. Center set ear posts on the top round concha.

Conchas are made by a process called die rèpoussé. The die has a male and female part, which together will make form both sides of the metal at the same time. It requires skill to manipulate the metal between the two dies, and to know when to stop striking the dies and to make the metal soft again, otherwise the metal will crack. Unlike cast conchas, rèpoussé conchas are lightweight and strong, because as the metal is formed, it becomes hard.

These earrings are perfect for Western outfits, but they also can be worn as Victorian in style, and look well for an evening gown.
